Ingredients
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup butter, softened
- 1¾ cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- Frosting (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a medium bowl, sift together 2¼ cups all-purpose flour, 1½ teaspoons baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Set aside.
- In a separate large bowl, beat together ¾ cup butter and 1¾ cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 3 eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
- Mix in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add half of the flour mixture, and mix until just combined. Stir in 1 cup milk. Add in remaining flour mixture and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Scoop batter into cupcake liners (about ⅔ full). Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cake comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for about 10 minutes, then remove cupcakes to cooling racks to cool completely before frosting.
- Optional: Frost cupcakes and add desired decorations.
